Because our membership is free, we rely solely on donations to keep ASI running. All donations received are allocated to meet the running costs of the organization and to maintain a quality online presence. We pay for software subscriptions, the website and effective accounting systems. We have allocated funds for part-time Executive Assistant help and all other personnel are volunteers. Occasionally we hire an outside professional advisor when need arises. When the ASI is represented at a conference, the travel expenses are largely borne by the individual volunteer representing the ASI. If we have funds, we offer some contribution towards expense reimbursement.
We offer an honorarium of $100 to each webinar presenter who is external to the organization.
We have specific projects that require funding in order to do them well. We have a small volunteer fundraising team who are actively pursuing grant aid from philanthropic trusts and foundations and although we have not received these types of funds yet, we will continue our efforts to source external funding. Your financial support is so important to ASI and we could not continue this work without your donations. Thank you.

We don’t recommend individual practitioners other than a small number of mediators who are skilled in mediating between teachers and students, if conflict arises.
However, here are some tips that might help you select with whom to work. All our members (spiritual teachers and leaders) agree to be accountable for their words and actions and are willing to receive feedback from their students/clients. It is wise to ask any spiritual teacher/leader/therapist if they abide by a code of ethics and if they have a system of feedback and/or a grievance process in place. After you review their code of ethics and processes, ask yourself if these protocols are respectful, honest and transparent and make your decision from there.
We offer a directory of spiritual teachers and leaders who have agreed to the ASI Honor Code of Ethics and Good Practice. If you are drawn to a particular teacher that you found online, you can search their name in the ASI member directory. If they are already a member, you can know that your teacher is open to feedback and that you can reach out to the ASI if you believe they are in violation of the ASI Code of Ethics. If you don’t see the teacher that you want to work with in our directory, ask them what their system of feedback and/or grievance process is and if they abide by a code of ethics. If they don’t have a code of ethics, you can refer them to the ASI website where they can become a member and utilize the ASI Code of Ethics. If a teacher is of the opinion that they don’t need a code of ethics or that ethics are too dualistic for them, you may want to choose a different teacher.
ASI offers Student Guidelines to empower students who are on a spiritual path. It is helpful if students are familiar with ASI’s Honor Code of Ethics and Good Practice for teachers. Always ask your teacher(s) if they have a code of ethics that informs the professionalism of their work. We plan to offer a course in the future that addresses “How to Find a Spiritual Teacher” specifically for students. In the interim, anyone can subscribe to our newsletter to stay informed about upcoming events, courses and free webinars. Our webinar events are informative and everyone is welcome to join, students and teachers alike.
If you are a spiritual teacher or guide, you can support the ASI by joining and becoming a member. Membership is free, but we do encourage a donation, if possible, to cover operating costs. All members are welcome to participate in the peer support events. For everyone, whether a member or a supporter (student, etc.), you are welcome to sign-up for the newsletter, join the webinar events and we would be grateful if you tell others in your network about ASI. Donations of all kinds are appreciated. Skilled volunteers are welcome as we pursue various projects. You are welcome to contact us at any time with other ideas of how you can support ASI.

Yes, you can join the ASI by applying for an organizational membership. If you don’t have an organization established, you can join the ASI as an individual. As a host for teachers, your role is similar to an influencer and you have a responsibility to ‘check out’ the visiting teachers that come to your venue. ASI encourages you to use the Integrity Clause in the contract with all visiting teachers that you host. The Integrity Clause protects both you and all participants that come to your venue.
The mission of the Association for Spiritual Integrity℠ (ASI) is to foster the fundamental role of strong ethical principles in the ongoing development of spiritual leaders and communities.
