Webinar Replay: “Embodying Transparency in the Teacher’s Seat” with Miranda Macpherson (Jan. 15, 2020)

Thank you to everyone who attended our first webinar event of 2020 with Miranda Macpherson (www.mirandamacpherson.com), ASI Board Member. 🙏 The recording and a downloadable MP3 file are below.

Embodying Transparency in the Teacher’s Seat

Date: Wednesday, January 15, 2019
Time: 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm Pacific time zone (1.5 hours)

Description: Many of us feel the need to move beyond models of the “infallible guru” to find a new paradigm for sharing truth that appreciates a person may legitimately have a significant realization and transmission to share, but at the same time, is still a human being in a process of continual unfolding.

Whatever blind spots or undigested material a teacher has personally will inevitably express somehow with their community of students. If this is not acknowledged, it inevitably creates suffering and stagnation for everyone. What does it mean to embody spiritual integrity when our less than perfectly integrated parts show up in the room?

In this webinar, Miranda Macpherson will share a possibility for sitting deeply in our legitimate authority as a teacher, while modeling transparency as human beings who all must be humble in the face of their own shadow. How might we demonstrate integrity when it is obvious we have made a mistake, or have said or done something that is less than wise? How can we even harness these moments as opportunities for collective learning about what it is to be both inherently whole and also a work in progress?

This webinar will include a rich teaching, where Miranda will share personally from her three decades of teaching experience which has involved equal parts of grace and clumsiness. Together, we will explore harnessing it all to become more truly authentic human beings as well as skilled and trustworthy teachers. The webinar will also include a breakout inquiry in pairs, followed by group discussion.

Miranda Macpherson

About Miranda Macpherson

Australian-born Miranda Macpherson is a spiritual teacher, modern mystic and author. Unapologetically feminine, joyful and down-to-earth in her way of being she’s internationally recognized for her depth of presence and her refined capacity as a guide into direct experience of the Sacred.

Grounded in extensive study of the world’s wisdom traditions, Miranda is inspired by the silent presence of Sri Ramana Maharshi, A Course in Miracles, and more recently, the Diamond Approach. In her twenties, she founded the OneSpirit Interfaith Foundation in London, where she trained and ordained over 600 ministers. Today she leads the Living Grace sanghas in Marin and Sonoma counties in Northern California, and teaches retreats across the USA and Europe and global online courses through The Shift Network.

Miranda’s holistic approach to spiritual surrender and non-dual realization is based on the practice of Ego Relaxation. Her wisdom and palpable transmission invites others to become more graceful human beings, deepening through inquiry, meditation, devotion and psychological integration.

Author of The Way of Grace: The Transforming Power of Ego Relaxation, Boundless Love, and Meditations on Boundless Love, Miranda is also a kirtan musician with a mantra album The Heart of Being. To read more about Miranda Macpherson and her work, click here.

Thank you, Miranda! That was excellent. Apologies for being called away from the live event but even the recording is very valuable.

Near the end, it was recommended that Members have a peer-partner to continue the practice with. To help facilitate this, I’ve created a topic on the Members Forum. See Members’ Sharing Community > Connections for Sharing Diad.

If you would like to find a diad partner or peer to work with, one option is to post your web site to the topic or contact someone who has posted there. Namaste!
